Vinayaka is very popular among children in Tamil.He is called the Pillayer-the Child God..There are many top stories connected with him.
One day Ganesha was playing with a cat,when His sharp finger nails scratched the face of the animal.When he returned home,He found scratches on the face of his motherParvati."Who did this to you mother?"he asked her.Parvati replied "You with your long finger-nails scratched the face of a cat.I dwell in all living beings as their soul.Therefore I suffered the scratches".
Ganesha understood the oneness of the creation,and from then on looked upon all living beings as He would look up to His mother.
