SERVICE TO GOD

SERVICE TO GOD

When we refer to service, we mean Seva and not help.  The scriptures tell us to serve.  This service itself becomes worship of the God.  He is better off without our help but due to his kindness, gives us an opportunity to serve.  Hanuman saved the life of the injured Lakshmana.  Later Lakshmana was injured again but revived without Hanuman’s help.  Rama gave Hanumana the opportunity to serve.

It is the service only that we grow and transform. We invoke the presence of the God in the idol and offer our prayers.  Is this a service or worship?  When we invoke His presence, every action is worship for Him. We are to develop the attitude of Seva.  Whatever we do, be it working in the office, interacting with people, objects, we should develop an attitude that we are interacting with the one Lord manifesting in all these forms.

We need to be humble and have devotion otherwise our action will not be considered as service. When we serve someone, we are helping ourselves by becoming better people.  There is always a great joy in service.  Hanuman chose the path of service and is known as the greatest of all devotees.  In service, there is no asking.  It is not a contract or a job or a business.  In service, one has to feel and identify himself with the divinity in all, and then only serve.

We serve our country, the world, our relatives, the birds and plants with a feeling of complete humility.  When Hanuman met Sita in Lanka, he called her Mata.  A good messenger becomes an instrument and allows the message to pass through him on behalf of his Master.   Hanuman enabled himself to speak politely on behalf of Rama.  Meditation Sadguru Archna Didi has always been advising in every Yoga session, Meditation session, workshops, in the gatherings of intellectuals, or otherwise throughout the world, that we should serve and serve the humanity in any way, in any form and as per the capacity.  That will be the beauty of service and results in service to the God.
